Salt Lake Community College engages in many recycling efforts throughout the year. You will notice blue recycling bins in every building where you can deposit plastic, aluminum and paper products. We recycle more than cans and plastic. Click on the recycling page to find out everything we recycle.

Salt Lake Community College has increasingly been relying on solar technology to power some of its buildings. Currently the roofs of the Lifetime Activities Center, Science and Industry building and the new Westpointe Workforce Training & Education Center have solar panels, helping to reduce those buildings' carbon footprint. We use energy management software to track energy usage and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, SLCC has LED retrofitting programs, EV charging stations, and implements HVAC upgrades.

Salt Lake Community College, through its Thayne Center for Service & Learning, maintains four campus gardens to promote sustainable gardening practices and to empower students, staff and faculty at SLCC to grow their own produce.

The Bruin Pantries are here to help by providing free food, hygiene items, and other resources to students, faculty, and staff in need.

SLCC's motor pool has several hybrid and electric vehicles available for use by authorized staff and faculty. The college's fleet of over 100 vehicles has cars, pickups, a garbage truck, lawnmower and even a forklift that run on compressed natural gas. Salt Lake Community College is providing free Bus/Transit passes to all of our active students, faculty and staff. Salt Lake Community College offers many opportunities to help bicyclists secure their bikes, including a "cage" at South City Campus.
