Basic definitions Biotechnology is the research and development in the laboratory using bioinformatics for exploration, extraction, exploitation, and production from any living organisms. Biotechnology was defined by Károly Ereky in 1919 as "the production of products from raw materials with the aid of living organisms." The club provides opportunities to network with individuals that are industry professionals, working for local biotech companies. Lifelong professional relationships are built through the Biotech Club, allowing students to become a strong support network and team throughout our careers. Being a member of the biotechnology club will give students the opportunity to work with faculty at Salt Lake Community College on guided and student lead research projects.
