For Day of Service, you will get to select where you would like to service. After registering, please complete the Participant Form to rank your choices for the day. Service projects are happening throughout the course of the day with on-campus and off-campus opportunities. Please reach out Savannah O'Sickey, Coordinator for Student Community Service if you have any questions.
Below are descriptions of what service groups will be doing at each community partner site. Servite sites marked "FULL" are at capacity.
- Encircle: OPEN Volunteers will be sorting clothing donations at Encircle. Encircle brings community together to enable LGBTQ+ youth to thrive. (8:00 AM- 1:00 PM)
- Utah Food Bank: OPEN Volunteers will be at the Utah Food Bank warehouse where they will assist with sorting donated food, repacking bulk items, building food boxes for seniors, and supporting other projects based on their needs. (12:00 PM- 3:00 PM)
- Family Support Center: OPEN Volunteers will be helping with outdoor cleanup and prepare the nursery for the summer. This will include cleaning the playground, cleaning outdoor windows, power washing outside of the building, and removing trash. The Family Support Center works to strengthen families through providing education, resources, and support to alleviate stress and diffuse the possibility of domestic violence and abuse. (8:00 AM - 1:00 PM)
- Tree Utah: OPEN Volunteers will be planting trees in the community to help enhance the environment. TreeUtah plants trees of all types to make Utah a greener place to live, work, and play. (8:00 AM - 1:00 PM)
- Bruin Pantry Morning Shift: OPEN- On Campus. Volunteers will get the full experience of working in the Bruin Pantry. The morning shift will help prepare for opening by receiving delivery, sorting and stocking. (8:00 AM - 12:30 PM)
- Bruin Pantry Afternoon Shift: OPEN- On Campus. Volunteers will get the full experience of working in the Bruin Pantry. The afternoon shift will stock shelves, prep food for the next day and check out patrons in the pantry during our open house. (12:00-3:00 PM)
- The INN Between: OPEN Volunteers will be cleaning and organizing different spaces at The INN Between. The INN Between works to provide end-of-life care to those experiencing homelessness. (8:00 AM- 1:00 PM)
- International Rescue Committee, New Roots Farm: OPEN Volunteers will help with irrigation set up and prepare New Roots Farm for the start of the garden season. As an essential part of the broader resettlement efforts by the International Rescue Committee (IRC), the New Roots program enables refugees to celebrate their heritage and nourish themselves. (8:00 AM - 1:00 PM)
- Ronald McDonald House: OPEN Volunteers will prepare and serve 40 lunches for families staying at Ronald McDonald House. Ronald McDonald House provides essential services for families of pediatric patients receiving treatment at Salt Lake City hospitals. (9:00 AM -1:00 PM)
- Salt Lake County Library: OPEN- On Campus. Volunteers will be packing study kits for high school students. (8:00-12:00 PM)
- The Road Home: OPEN- On Campus. Volunteers will be packing hygiene kits and creating tote bags for clients and people experiencing homelessness.
